Since training and qualifying as an Infant Feeding Coach (with The Infant Feeding Academy) in 2022, I’ve been privileged to assist many families in their breastfeeding and bottle feeding journeys.

I’ve listed below how I can help with all four ways that you could choose to feed your baby or babies;

  • Planned breastfeeding

  • Planned bottle feeding

  • Combi-feeding

  • Expressing milk

My aim is to help you reach your feeding goals, whatever they are.

How can I help with breastfeeding?

Antenatally: I offer a bespoke 1:1 session in your home to help you make a Feeding Plan and prepare you with the vital information you need ahead of your birth. There are some fundamentals which you need to learn antenatally to get breastfeeding off to a good start, which includes:

  • Potential colostrum harvesting in pregnancy

  • The 9 steps newborns go through to establish feeding

  • How to protect the initialisation of breastfeeding in hospital, at home or after a caesarean birth

  • Fundamentals of Positioning and Attachment (latch)

  • Things partner can do to support your breastfeeding

  • Expressing, supply and managing pain

  • Writing up a Feeding Plan for you

Postnatally: If you’re finding me once baby/babies have already arrived, I offer a bespoke 1:1 session in your home to help you manage your breastfeeding journey. Things past clients have sought help for include (but not limited to):

  • Breast pain, nipple pain, sore nipples

  • Understanding a low or high supply and how to maintain a good supply

  • Baby/babies not putting on weight / low weight gain

  • Baby/babies not weeing or pooing enough

  • A very uncomfortable/fussy baby or babies after feeds

  • Expressing / how to introduce a bottle / some bottles

  • Writing up a Feeding Plan for you

How can I help with bottle feeding or combi-feeding?

Antenatally: There are several things to consider when planning to bottle feed or combi-feed your baby from birth. I can help you navigate topics like:

  • Which bottle or teat is right for your goals

  • Paced bottle feeding or Responsive bottle feeding

  • Sterilising care

  • How partner can support

  • Bottle feeding after birth in a hospital after a vaginal or caesarean birth

  • Writing up a Feeding Plan for you

Postnatally: If you’re finding me once baby/babies have already arrived, I can come and assist with paced / responsive bottle feeding if you’re not happy with your set up, or how baby is putting on weight, weeing or pooing.

Prices

Bespoke 1:1 consultation either antenatally or postnatally £60 per hour

This session will take place in your home, usually Monday-Friday 9:30-2:30pm, but availability at weekends and outside of those times is possible.

What’s the difference between an Infant Feeding Coach and an IBCLC (International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants)

As an Infant Feeding Coach I am qualified to help you with a vast range of breastfeeding and bottle feeding issues, ranging from good position and attachment, writing feeding plans, helping with nipple pain, helping you tandem feed twins, and generally helping you make small adjustments which make a huge difference.

An IBCLC is highly qualified through years of training and case work, and deal with a variety of complex feeding needs, including tongue-tie assessments.

If I ever feel that you need more details and specific help from an IBCLC I recommend Carla at The Milky Life if you’re in Brighton & Hove and I can help you make an appointment with her. For further afield I also have many brilliant IBCLC recommendations for you, so do ask.
